At 73, in order to remain at peak painting performance, he lives alone in a studio apartment, no phone, TV or computer, spending most of his time on location drawing or painting.

Ed Lopez graduated from Cooper Union School of Art in the late 1950's.After graduation, Ed spent 20 years working his way up the corporate ladder in New York City's top advertising agencies.
By the mid seventies he had had enough and moved to the Pocono's taking what he calls a "vow of poverty" in order to spend the rest of his life painting.
The walls of his studio apartment are a riotous mosaic of gouache watercolor scenes from the Pocono area. He chooses to paint on brown paper bags because they are a lot easier to come by, than using an expensive watercolor paper; it also fits with his love of recycling.
