In 1865, God had placed upon the hearts of William and Catherine Booth the desire to reach the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the outcast of society by putting the gospel into action. And so, from the beginning of The Salvation Army’s history, the BLOOD of Jesus Christ and the FIRE of the Holy Spirit has compelled its founders, members, soldiers and officers to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without  discrimination.
